LONG ISLAND (March 23, 2019) – The Long Island Nets (34-16), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, defeated the Wisconsin Herd (12-38) 126-125 in the team’s regular season finale at NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Long Island’s 34 wins are tied for the most wins in the NBA G League this season.

Long Island Nets Keep’s it Rolling to 10 WINS!

LONG ISLAND DEFEATS ERIE FOR 10TH WIN IN A ROW

 

 

LONG ISLAND (March 13, 2019) – The Long Island Nets (31-15), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, defeated the Erie BayHawks (21-25) 125-109 at NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The win is the Nets’ 10th in a row, which is the longest winning streak in the NBA G League this season. The team has also won eight straight home games, which also marks the longest streak in the league this season.

 

Long Island guard Jordan McLaughlin scored a team-high 27 points with five rebounds, seven assists, three steals and a block in 35 minutes of action.

Brooklyn two-way forward/center Alan Williams logged his 29th double-double of the season with 18 points and 18 rebounds along with a career-high seven assists in 31 minutes.

Long Island dominated the boards in the opening period with 20 rebounds compared to Erie’s five. This led to a seven-point lead heading into the second quarter by a score of 34-27. Erie battled back in the second, outscoring Long Island 30-27 and keeping the Nets under 40 percent shooting from the field. Long Island’s lead was cut down to four heading into halftime, 61-57.

 

The Nets came out looking to control the glass again and pulled down more than double the rebounds the BayHawks did in the third, 16-7. This led to Long Island having 11 second chance points compared to Erie’s two. Heading into the final period of play, the Nets extended to an 11-point lead, 95-84. Long Island coasted to the finish-line, leading by as many as 18 points before defeating Erie 125-109 for their 10th victory in a row.

 

Erie guard Cat Barber scored a game-high 35 points with seven rebounds, five assists and two steals in 37 minutes, while BayHawks guard Jaylen Morris scored 28 points with five rebounds, six assists, three steals and a block in 42 minutes.

Long Island will take on the Maine Red Claws on the road on Friday, Mar. 15, at 7 p.m. ET. Their next home game is

YESTERDAY ALAN WILLIAMS NAMED NBA G LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE WEEK…AGAIN!

LONG ISLAND (March 11, 2019) – The NBA G League announced today that Brooklyn Nets two-way forward/center Alan Williams was named NBA G League Player of the Week for games played Monday, March 4, through Sunday, March 10. This marks the second NBA G League Player of the Week honor in Long Island Nets history, the first for Long Island this season and the first of Williams’ career.

Williams led Long Island to a 4-0 week, averaging 22.0 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 blocks in 28.6 minutes per game while shooting 47.0 percent (31-of-66) from the field and 89.3 percent (25-of-28) from the free throw line. The Phoenix native scored 20 or more points and led Long Island in scoring in three of the team’s four games. He also posted three double-doubles during the four-game stretch.

 

Williams began the week with a team-high 20 points, eight rebounds, two assists and a block versus Canton on March 4 and followed it with a game-high-tying 28 points, 12 rebounds, a career-high-tying five assists and a career-high-tying three blocks versus Fort Wayne on March 6. He then posted a team-high 21 points, 12 rebounds and two assists against Maine on March 8, as Long Island clinched its first playoff spot in franchise history with its 129-111 victory over the Red Claws. Williams rounded out the week with 19 points, a game-high 15 rebounds, two assists and a block in the LI Nets’ win over Iowa on March 10. Long Island is currently on a nine-game winning streak, which marks the longest active streak in the NBA G League and ties for the longest streak in the league this season.

 

In 37 games (all starts) for Long Island this season, Williams has averaged 20.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 blocks in 27.3 minutes per contest. He is currently tied for second in the NBA G League in double-doubles (27), ranks fourth in the league in rebounds per game and is 10th in the league in points per game.  The 26-year-old has also appeared in three games for the Brooklyn Nets this season, recording averages of 3.3 points and 4.7 rebounds in 5.6 minutes per game.
