MEMORIAL DAY MAYHEM GAME RULES

 

  • Two 20-minute halveswith a running clock. 1-minute stop in the 1sthalf.. Clock only stops for timeouts, ref time outs, or injury timeouts.
  • 1-minute stop at the end of the 1st half
  • 2-minute stop at the end of the 2ndhalf
  • TEAM/COACHES CHECK-IN – Each Coach/must check-in 15 minutes prior to game times. Game start on -the-dot.      

 Each team has 5-minute grace period before they are penalized for being late. If the team arrives prior to the penalty time they will use 1 time out to get on the court then clock commences minus the time they’re late.

  • TIMEOUTS – Four 30-second timeouts for each team for the entire game. They can be carried over to the 2ndhalf.
  • OVERTIME – One 2-minute w/ 1 minute stop clock.
  • 2ndOVERTIME– 1-minute stop clock. Anything over that time is sudden death.
  • LATENESS– Each team has a 5-minute grace period. The clock starts running at the scheduled time Once that grace period expires,(5 minutes) the late team will be penalized 1 point for every minute they are late. Once the team is 20 minutes late, the game is ruled a forfeit, and the opposing team gets the win. If the late team arrives before the time of forfeit, the game continues minus the late time.
  • FIGHTING– Fighting is prohibited.There is zero tolerance for fighting. Any fighting will result in ejection from the tournament (individual player or team depending on situation).
  • When a team is up by 20 pointsor more in the last 2 minutes of the game, the clock will not stop.
  • If a player qualifies to play AAU in the summer of 2020, then he is eligible to participate in this event. Players are only allowed to play on 1 team per division. If one is found playing on more than 1 team, the 2nd team he is playing on will automatically forfeit every game he participated in.
  • This is REALbasketball. High school rules apply. There is no mercy or defensive rules from grades 7-12. A team can press no matter how much time is left, no matter what the score. For younger divisions (grade 3-6) teams must drop back to half court when up by 20 or more points.
  • All players must be in the official book at game time with players’ names and numbers included. Otherwise, a technical will be assessed for each player.
  • Each home team must have a book keeper at or near the table 5 minutes before the start of the game. The table’s book is the OFFICIAL BOOK. 2ndbook is for individual scores, and to back up Official book.
  • All coaches must have an assistant coachin the books before the start of the tournament in the case that the head coach is ejected. Otherwise, the team plays without a coach or the game is forfeited. Only 2 coaches are permitted per team. All coaches and assistant coaches must be on the roster at registration.
  • All Coaches and players must sign in upon arrival to the facility
