The mission of the Long Island H.E.A.T. Basketball Association is to empower today’s youth by developing confidence, fostering a sense of commitment and developing integrity, so they can live a productive and successful tomorrow. The program will provide Rigor, Relationship and Relevance through the art of sports. Our goal is to teach young athletes respect for themselves, their peers and their community by instilling a code of ethics built on honesty, responsibility and team work.

NorthSport is hosting tryouts for 3rd and 4th grade girls on Friday, March 8th from 5:00pm-6:15pm
This team will be coached by Coach Devine Smith’s Long Island Lightning team.
Here is a little bit of information about Coach Smith:
An assistant coach for 2013 LIU Post Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Tom Galeazzi from 2002-06, Devine Smith just completed his sixth season with the Pioneers in 2015-16.
Smith’s most recent coaching stint was at East Coast Conference rival Dowling College, where he served as an assistant for six seasons (2007-13). In that capacity, he was responsible for marketing, scheduling, scouting, recruiting, and proposing travel expense budgets.
Lastly, from 1999-2002, Smith worked as an assistant coach at Copiague High School. While there, he tutored the post players on offensive play, and defensive containment.
There will be no charge for the tryout.
