LONG ISLAND DEFEATS ERIE ON RECORD NIGHT FROM SHANNON SCOTT

 

LONG ISLAND (Jan. 2, 2019) – The Long Island Nets (15-6), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, won their third consecutive game as they defeated the Erie BayHawks (11-10) 123-108 at NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

 

Long Island guard Shannon Scott recorded 20 assists, which were good for a franchise record, career high and marked an NBA G League season high. Scott also had nine points, six rebounds and five steals. Long Island forward Mitch Creek set a career high with a game-high 29 points to go along with seven rebounds, two assists and a steal. Brooklyn forward Treveon Graham had 17 points, eight rebounds, an assist and three steals while on assignment with Long Island.

 

Long Island got off to a quick start, scoring 32 points in the first quarter to lead Erie 32-23. Erie got revenge in the second quarter with 41 points in the period alone, shooting .630 percent from the field. Long Island still carried a one-point lead going into halftime with a score of 65-64.

 

The Nets came out of halftime focusing on defense, holding the BayHawks to 22 points in the quarter on .300 percent shooting from the field. Long Island held a 100-86 lead going into the fourth quarter.

 

Long Island continued their strong defensive effort and held Erie to 22 points again in the fourth before winning this one by a score of 123-108.

 

Atlanta two-way forward Alex Poythress led the team with 27 points and added eight rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block. Atlanta forward Omari Spellman logged a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds along with four assists, a steal and two blocks while on assignment with Erie.

 

Long Island will take on the Raptors 905 on Saturday, January 5, at 7 p.m. ET, while Erie will head back home to face the Windy City Bulls on Friday, January 4, at 7 p.m. ET.

LONG ISLAND WINS HIGH SCORING MATINEE AGAINST WISCONSIN

LONG ISLAND (Dec. 4, 2018) – The Long Island Nets (8-3), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, got back to their winning ways at NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, defeating the Wisconsin Herd (1-11) 130-124 on Tuesday.

 

Brooklyn two-way guard/forward Theo Pinson led the Nets with 26 points and pitched in with six rebounds, six assists and two steals. Brooklyn guard/forward Dzanan Musa logged his first double-double of the season with 20 points and a career-high 10 rebounds along with an assist and a career-high four steals while on assignment with Long Island.

In front of a packed house, the Nets scored the first 16 points of the game and led by as many as 25 in a first quarter where they outscored the Herd 42-20.

 

The Nets led for the entire game, but Wisconsin began to chip away at the lead in the second quarter, cutting it down to 15 points at halftime, 71-56.

 

In the third, the Nets added to their lead, going up 22 points entering the final quarter, but Wisconsin would make it a game in the fourth, behind Christian Wood’s 17 points in the final period. A James Young layup with 14.9 seconds remaining cut this one to a one-possession game before Theo Pinson iced the game with clutch free throws down the stretch.

 

Wisconsin forward James Young led all scorers with 32 points and registered a double-double, adding 12 rebounds, two assists, four steals and two blocks. Milwaukee center Christian Wood scored 21 points and had nine rebounds, two assists and three blocks while on assignment with Wisconsin.

The Nets will travel to Canton on Thursday, 12/6, to face the Charge at 7 p.m. ET, while Wisconsin returns home to face off against the Raptors 905 on Friday, 12/7, at 8 p.m. ET.

LONG ISLAND TOPS GREENSBORO TO REMAIN UNDEFEATED AT HOME

LONG ISLAND (Nov. 27, 2018) – The Long Island Nets (6-2), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, earned their fourth consecutive home win with a 129-118 victory over the Greensboro Swarm (4-5) on Tuesday. The four-game home win streak at NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, is one shy of tying a franchise record.

Brooklyn Nets two-way forward/center Alan Williams led Long Island with a career-high 28 points to go along with 19 rebounds, registering his fifth double-double in six games played. Brooklyn guard/forward Dzanan Musa scored 26 points along with a career-high seven assists and three steals while on assignment with Long Island.

The game was fast-paced and back-and-forth from the start, with the teams tying at 32 to end the first quarter.

 

The Nets would continue their torrid scoring throughout the second quarter, leading by as many as 13 in the quarter and scoring 39 points in the quarter alone.

 

Greensboro battled back in the third quarter, this time being the team with the hot hands. With 3:21 to play in the third, Greensboro tied the game at 90. The Nets would take a three-point lead heading into the fourth before coasting to an 11-point victory.

 

Hornets two-way forward J.P. Macura led all scorers with 31 points to go along with four rebounds, an assist and a steal. Swarm guard Jaylen Barford also recorded 23 points, seven rebounds, six assists and a block in the effort.

 

The two teams will do it all again in three days, as the Nets travel to Greensboro for a rematch on Friday, 11/30, at 7 p.m. ET for their second of three matchups this season.
