LONG ISLAND DEFEATS FORT WAYNE FOR FRANCHISE-RECORD 28TH WIN

LONG ISLAND (Mar. 6, 2019) – The Long Island Nets (28-14), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, defeated the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (19-24) 128-123 at NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The win is the Nets’ seventh in a row, which marks a franchise record and the longest active winning streak in the NBA G League.

Brooklyn two-way forward/center Alan Williams

registered a double-double with a team-high 28 points and 12 rebounds along with five assists and three blocks in 30 minutes. Brooklyn guard/forward Dzanan Musa

scored 20 points and had five rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block in 35 minutes while on assignment with Long Island. Brooklyn guard Tahjere McCall,

Long Island came out hot, scoring 30 points in the opening period off 58 percent shooting from the field to take a 30-20 lead going into the second. Both teams had no trouble scoring throughout the second, with Long Island scoring 36, but Fort Wayne scoring 38 to chip into the Nets’ lead. The Nets would enter halftime leading by eight, 66-58.

The Nets added to their lead in the third, closing the quarter with their biggest lead yet, 15. After three the score was 96-81. Long Island would continue to add to their lead in the fourth, extending to a 22-point lead, but then Fort Wayne came storming back. A late run cut the lead down to as little as four points, but with clutch free throw shooting down the stretch, the Nets put this one to bed. After the final buzzer, the Nets won their seventh in a row, this time by a score of 128-123.

Fort Wayne center Travin Thibodeaux logged a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds along with four assists and a steal in 29 minutes. Mad Ants guard Jovan Mooring scored a team-high 28 points with three rebounds and seven assists in 29 minutes off the bench.
