Long Island got hot early and often, scoring 38 points in both the first and second quarter. The team shot 59 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point territory in the first. Theo Pinson scored 14 in the opening period on 4-of-6 shooting from 3-point range. Despite Long Island’s hot shooting, Memphis refused to go away. The Hustle outscored the Nets 33-31 in the third quarter, trailing by 13 heading into the final period of play. Memphis made it a game in the fourth, cutting the lead down to as few as four points with 7.7 seconds left, but some clutch free throws down the stretch for the Nets put the game away. Long Island would end up winning this one by a score of 137-132.
Memphis guard Tarik Phillip scored a game-high 48 points to go along with six rebounds, four assists, two steals and four blocks. The 48 points are the most by a Long Island opponent this season.
