LONG ISLAND (Feb. 24, 2019) – The Long Island Nets (24-14), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, defeated the Memphis Hustle (21-18) 137-132 at NYCB LIVE, Home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Brooklyn two-way guard/forward Theo Pinson scored 28 points,

including a career-high-tying seven 3-pointers made, with nine rebounds, three assists and a steal in 35 minutes. Brooklyn two-way forward/center Alan Williams logged another double-double, his 24th of the season, with 17 points and 12 rebounds along with five assists in 30 minutes.

Long Island guard Jordan McLaughlin scored 17 points and had two rebounds, a game-high eight assists and a steal in 29 minutes off the bench.

Long Island got hot early and often, scoring 38 points in both the first and second quarter. The team shot 59 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point territory in the first. Theo Pinson scored 14 in the opening period on 4-of-6 shooting from 3-point range. There was more of the same in the second as the team shot a whopping 67 percent from the field and yet again 50 percent from 3-point land. The Nets took a 15-point lead into halftime by a score of 76-61.

Despite Long Island’s hot shooting, Memphis refused to go away. The Hustle outscored the Nets 33-31 in the third quarter, trailing by 13 heading into the final period of play. Memphis made it a game in the fourth, cutting the lead down to as few as four points with 7.7 seconds left, but some clutch free throws down the stretch for the Nets put the game away. Long Island would end up winning this one by a score of 137-132.

Memphis guard Tarik Phillip scored a game-high 48 points to go along with six rebounds, four assists, two steals and four blocks. The 48 points are the most by a Long Island opponent this season. Grizzlies two-way guard Julian Washburn posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds to go along with two assists and two steals.
