14 Teams and 7 games this Sunday.

January 13, 2018 …and this is the Line up:

Game 1 at 11am is Queens’ Cardozo Judges coached by PSAL Hall of Fame coach Ron Neclario vs. Long Island perennial Catholic School powerhouse the Holy Trinity Titans coached by Joe Conefry. The players to watch out for on the Judges team are Jaylen Davis & Donte Ager while on the Titans feature 2 of their best players from their 2017-18 campaign Mike Sixsmith a solid guard with great IQ for the game. Consistent mid-range shooter and unflappable under pressure. The 2nd returnee for the Titans is a crafty guard AJ Knight.

Game 2 is an Independent vs Catholic School matchup of Lawrence Woodmere Academy Tigers featuring the dynamic duo of Louisville-commit Aidan Igiehon (AKA the Irish Hulk) and prolific guard and Marist College commit,  Tyler St. Furcy  vs. the Well oiled machine known as the Chaminade Flyers lead by lacrosse Star and shooting dynamo Michael O’Connell, and swingman Liam Drennan.

Game 3 features 2 more independents the Portledge Panthers featuring Alzheimer’s All-Star Basketball Classic All-Star Jahmire Primer  a solid guard with a strong frame that can finish with contact and has a good IQ for the game. Then there’s his teammate Zaire Baines the other leading scorer for the Panthers that score 1,000 points in his freshman year at Portledge! Yeah I, think that this kid can score. Their opposers are  NYC’s Regis School Owls from the Bronx.

Game 4 features Brooklyn’s PSAL South Shore Vikings vs. Long Island most talented team the Luhi Crusaders. It’s a different team than the past few years but the result is usually the same. This team get’s the best players and goes at any team that can play them. Zed Key the Brentwood transfer is ready to take the next step as he has been invited to several 5 star invitationals has touch around the basket and he’s a cerebral players that makes things happen, and he’s one of the top players on Long Island. Then there’s the point guard Andre Curbelo 6’1″ guard QUICK point guard who see’s the floor and he has a way making great plays, Essam Mostafa 6’9″ swingman is garnering multiple high major recruitments.

Game 5: is featuring 2 eastern Long Island powerhouses in the Bellport Clippers featuring 3 time All-Long Island and double-double machine Jarell White vs. Center Moriches Red Devils‘ All-Long Island 6’6″ swingman Sean Braithwaite, 6’5″ All-County forward Micah Snowden, & 6ft dynamo lefty guard who was also a 2018 AABClassic All-Star selection Tyquion Nix.  Also adding to the Red Devils’ arsenal  6’4″ David Falco Jr. a University of Maryland baseball commit and 3 year basketball team captain’s season debut is on the horizon. If he’s cleared in time he brings a lot to this already talented Center Moriches Red Devils team.

Game 6: is featuring the Bronx’s All Hallows Gaels who’s standout player is 6’4″ guard Nicholas Johnson & guard Donald Harltley vs. Nassau Long Island power house the Uniondale Knights. The Knights are a constant name in Long Island basketball landscape when discussing the top teams in Nassau. This team is lead by Coach Tom Diana who’s done a great job of keeping the Knights relevant. Their 2017-18 season was a great success as they got over the hump of the Nassau Finals against the Baldwin Bruins only to run into the Long Island Player of the year and NY State Gatorade player of the year Savion Lewis in the Long Island Championship game.

Game 7: brings Brooklyns’ Storied Boys & Girls Kangaroos coached by Ruth Lovelace to the Island and the ‘Roos are licking their chops to add another win to their game percentage, but Nassau Long Island’s 3 time NYS finalist the Baldwin Bruins coached by Darius Burton feels confident that his team will do their job. The players to watch for are; 6’3″ transfer from Christ The King’s Royals, Tavin Pierre-Philippe. This guy is a very athletic pure scorer with a high IQ for the game. Then there’s the 2nd year player for Coach Burton originally from Deer Park that fit right into the Bruins’ system. Hard nosed scoring guard Rhyjon Blackwell. If don’t already know about this kid, then be informed…this kid can score and fears no one.

In the third, the Nets added to their lead, going up 22 points entering the final quarter, but Wisconsin would make it a game in the fourth, behind Christian Wood’s 17 points in the final period. A James Young layup with 14.9 seconds remaining cut this one to a one-possession game before Theo Pinson iced the game with clutch free throws down the stretch.
