It’s Official The Long Island Nets are the NBA G League Eastern Conference Champions…

But we almost lost our beloved

Team Mascot Dale in the process!

In case you missed it. We had a barnburner at the Coliseum for the Eastern conference finals, where the Long Island Nets played against the NBA G League affiliate team to the Orlando Magic, the Lakeland Magic ; and the ‘Magic took this game to the wire!

It was an uphill battle for our ‘Nets as they were down for most of the game. Then #LongIslandsTeam mounted a comeback and eventually tied the game forcing it into Overtime! The Overtime session itself was a game within a game, but the Long Island fans rallied behind their team. It seemed like the game was over with Long Island down by one with 2.7 seconds remaining and the ball. Then the ‘Nets call a timeout and Coach Weaver drew up a play.  The ball was in-bounded to Theo Pinson, who nailed a game-winning 3-pointer to send the Nets to their first NBA G League Finals in franchise history!

Meantime on the baseline

Dale the ‘Nets team mascot,

collapsed and had to be revived by one

of the members of Team Hype!

Dale ended up being OK and both the ‘Nets and Dale survive to play tonight in the best-of-3 series versus the West coast Champion NBA G League affiliate of the Houston Rockets, Rio Grande Valley Vipers!
